This music is composed as one of the compulsory musics of All Japan Band Competition 2017.
Hiroshi Hoshina is one of the legends in Japan’s wind orchestra scene. He composed compulsory music for All Japan Band Competition for three times before Intermezzo: ”Cantilena” in 1976, ”Fu-Mon (wind ripple)” in 1987, and ”Albireo” in 1997.
”Fu-Mon” is one of the most famous Hoshina’s music and selected as a compulsory music for school band competition in US.
For the final composition for All Japan Band Competition, he aimed at ”performing a song with a simple, beautiful melody” rather than requiring technical performing skills. Yet this music is not easy to perform, because it requires delicate treatment for ensemble -- fine balance for each harmony and severe control of volume balance for melody part and countermelody parts -- or, the music falls into chaos easily. This music is the best piece for young generations and is worth to practice for many months.
